Solar Eclipse from Space

“It is amazing to see an eclipse from orbit,” NASA Astronaut Don Pettit said. “The shadow on Earth looks just like what you see in the physics books and the astronomy book where those folks figured all that out without ever having seen what that shadow looks like.”

24 hours before the eclipse in Redding Calif there were rainbow between cloud on a rainless day. Some cloud had rainbow colored edges, and some looked more like cotton than clouds. I am David E J Malley
in facebook I tried my best in 24 hours before the eclipse and during the eclipse in capture events.

Thanks for sharing this. This is amazing. I am wondering if this would have been as visible if there was no cloud cover? We had some cloud cover here in Boulder, CO but was able to see a good part of the second half before it set over the mountains.

Keep up the great work!

Wow! What am amazing shot. Guess it had never occurred to me what an eclipse would look like from "above." Somehow I thought the shadow would have been darker though.

The folks from the astronomy books are amazing minds. They must use differentials from the class after the last one I took :-)
