HighWire is a division of the Stanford University Libraries. Founded in 1995, with the launch of the Journal of Biological Chemistry (JBC Online), HighWire currently hosts more than 1,300 publications, including some open access information.

Of course, not all of the information in HighWire is available to all, but they do offer a fairly sizable list of open access titles or titles with open access to back issues - as of May 26, there are 287 titles with open access to back issues. Current topics covered include biology and medicine, earth science, and engineering.

Click on the "For Researchers" tab, and you'll find customization and search tools, including citation and table of contents alerts, a "favorites" list, citation mapping, and more. Many of these tools are available after registering for an account, available at no charge, with HighWire.
