Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) is a peer reviewed, PubMed indexed electronic journal devoted to the publication of biological research in a video format. The journal currently covers several biology-based topics, including bioengineering and plant biology, and includes some open access material. (While the Glenn Science & Engineering Library [GSEL] does not have access to the subscription-based content, open access content is available from any computer or mobile device with access to an internet connection.)

Could this be an emerging trend in scientific research and information sharing? Watch and see! There are already other resources available that are similar to JoVE, including SciVee (a science & research-based community site where researchers can post their own videos and documents related to their research) and IEEE.tv (an internet TV network, made possible by the members of IEEE, which produces and delivers special-interest programming about technology and engineering for the benefit of IEEE's members and the general public. Some content is limited to IEEE members only.).

Did you see a great article referenced on one of these video sites, but you're not sure where to find it or if GSEL has access to the material? Do you have questions about open access publishing or copyright concerns related to open access material? Contact a GSEL Reference Librarian for additional information.
