Podcasting Coordinator, NASA Educational Technology Services
I am a member of the NASA Educational Technology Services team that provides education materials in the For Educators and For Students sections of the NASA Web site. Most of my work involves digital media content. I am responsible for NASA Education's Do-It-Yourself Podcast activity and collaborate with former middle school teacher and NASA Educational Technology Services colleague Denise Miller to regularly post teacher tips to the DIY Podcast Blog.
I have worked as a NASA contractor employee since 1997. I spent the first four years working as a media relations specialist at the Marshall Space Flight Center. My primary focus was promoting space transportation and providing NASA TV commentary for space shuttle microgravity missions and the deployment of the Chandra X-ray Observatory. In 2001, I transitioned to Web content manager for space transportation projects at the Marshall Center. I joined the NASA Educational Technology Services team in 2006 to support NASA Education's podcasting initiative.
B.S. in Political Science from Athens State University, Athens, AL.
This is a companion blog to the Do-It-Yourself Podcast activity in the For Educators section of the NASA Web site. The blog offers tips and suggestions to help educators use the DIY Podcast in their classrooms. The blog's Comments section is a good way for educators to share their ideas and experiences with others.
I enjoy electronic gadgets and keeping up with the latest technology trends. Podcasting is especially fun for me because it taps into the same skill set as one of my favorite career experiences -- working as a radio and television news reporter -- and uses the Internet and cool gadgets for delivery. I want students to have fun mixing and mashing NASA content for their own podcasts and get excited about careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
