NASA is seeking qualified experts to peer review proposals for the Minority University Research and Education Project (MUREP) Aerospace High-volume Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management Cooperative. Peer review is a critical component of the decision-making process for awarding projects. Reviewers will be selected based on the subject matter of the proposals received. 

To serve as a reviewer, you must register in the research announcement and evaluation system. To register, go to http://nspires.nasaprs.com/external/ and click on “Create an Account” in the right margin of the screen. Responses to the Request for Reviewer Information must be submitted electronically using the “Notice of Intent (NOI)” module within the system.

NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement invites the NASA Space Grant community, academia and industry to help NASA develop its student challenge portfolio in the 2019-2020 academic year. Proposed challenges should engage college-level students across the U.S. in lunar-focused activities aligning with technology needs of Artemis missions, and inspire and engage the Artemis generation. Responses will be reviewed by NASA and inform the planned release of a Space Grant request for proposals solicitation later this year.

The 2020 RASC-AL competition invites university teams to develop new concepts that leverage innovations for NASA’s Artemis lunar exploration program and future human missions to Mars in one of five themes: South Pole Multi-purpose Rover; International Space Station as a Mars Mission Analog; Short Surface Stay Mars Mission; Commercial Cislunar Space Development; and Autonomous Utilization and Maintenance for Science Payloads on the Gateway and/or Mars Deep Space Transport. Up to 15 teams will be chosen to present their concepts at the June 2020 RASC-AL Forum.

The Museum of Flight in Seattle is the only West Coast stop for a new exhibition featuring the Apollo 11 command module Columbia—the only part of the Apollo 11 spacecraft to return intact to Earth. NASA invites the public to send their names to the Red Planet aboard NASA’s Mars 2020 rover! The Mars 2020 mission will launch next summer and land on Mars on Feb. 18, 2021. The mission will search for signs of past microbial life, characterize the planet’s climate and geology, collect samples for future return to Earth and pave the way for human exploration.

Be a Citizen Scientist—NASA GLOBE Observer: Trees

The Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment Program (GLOBE) team has a new citizen science opportunity. A new tool in the GLOBE Observer app allows users to take tree height measurements with their smartphones. The data collected using the app will be used by scientists working on NASA missions studying Earth from orbiting satellites. This is an authentic research opportunity suitable for students in a variety of disciplines, including Earth science, environmental science, life science and mathematics.
