On Its Way

Rollout is underway! The rocket started moving at 1:39 amEDT. When it cleared the threshold of the huge Vehicle Assembly Building the Xenon lights lit it up.

Members of the press stood along side the crawler way andgot pictures of the rocket and interviews with the mission management team ofBob Ess, Ed Mango, Jon Cowart and Steve Davis.

We’ve got a few hours to go before Ares I-X makes it to thepad. It should get there shortly after sunrise, which should make for somefantastic pictures as well.

  1. Good Luck on the launch. I saw the effort put forth by NASA Glenn in building the Upper Stage. It was tremendous and inspiring. I hope the test launch will provide all of the answers for which it was designed.

  2. Awesome – just awesome.
What a beautiful sight, a new era in space exploration rolling out of the VAB.

I wish everyone at NASA the best of luck in the upcoming launch. Success will again prove that the USA has what it takes to design and develop the best rockets in the world.

  3. “I have always dreamed of a rocket that we can use to explore the solar system…now we have that rocket” – Wehner von Braun

    Good luck to all!!
